European Landscapes Network
FUNDERS & PARTNERS: XXXX
LOCATION: Europe wide
We form a node on this network, which includes members from 12 countries working in professional practice, NGOs, the public sector, universities and research institutes. Our goal is to enhance practice relating to landscape heritage and contribute to delivering connected cultural, social, economic and environmental benefits. Northlight Heritage co-envisaged and co-established the network, and have co-organised all of its activity and events to date. It was conceived in Oslo in 2011 during a conference session we helped organise on the theme of 'Integrated Landscape Research: The dynamics of policy, practice and philosophy across Europe', an adjunct to the Transforming Practice workshop series.
The network was formally launched in Helsinki in 2012 in association with a session on 'Archaeology and Landscape: Integrated research and the common good' at the annual European Association of Archaeologists conference. A third ELN conference session on 'Creating Landscape Visions: Managing the past while imagining the future' was held at the EAA conference in Pilsen in 2013. In 2014, the Network is building on this foundation to develop a concrete programme of sustained, collaborative knowledge exchange and research activity through workshops in Glasgow and Istanbul.
