Garnock Connections Landscape Partnership
FUNDERS & PARTNERS: RSPB, North Ayrshire Council, Historic Environment Scotland, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish Natural Heritage, Scottish Wildlife Trust, MVGLA Landscape Architecture, Talamh Landscape Consultancy y
LOCATION: North Ayrshire, south-west Scotland
As part of a consultancy team led by MVGLA, we led a programme of community engagement and conducted an historic environment audit for the GCLP area to identify local people's aspirations and concerns for their heritage and the key cultural heritage themes and places that contribute to landscape character. The results, combined with a local landscape character assessment, fed into the LP's Stage 2 Heritage Lottery Fund application. It will aim to help local communities develop connections with the area's past and unlock the stories that link the River Garnock's historic uses with today's landscape, creating opportunities for people to contribute time, skills and effort to conserving the area's heritage.
